I don't have the energy to rant... but if I did, believe me I would.

So George decided to lift the moratorium on off shore drilling, cuz like, its going to help the economy, and um... stuff... and um... like the gas prices are going to go down, and um... well... all those mean other countries that are trying to be better than us (like Venezuela) are going out there and finding all that precious oil first and claiming it for their own... so why dont WE get out there and get it? I mean really!

Well here's the reason:

"If offshore drilling would provide short-term relief at the pump or a long-term strategy for energy independence, it would be worthy of our consideration, regardless of the risks. It would merely prolong the failed energy policies we have seen from Washington for thirty years." -- Obama Campaign

like I said -- I'm too lazy tonight to do a real rant, and why try to articulate my opinion when Obama did it so nicely for me? Why reinvent the wheel?

Basically, its not going to help us, its going to keep us dependent on oil (which IS STUPID), its not going to lower prices, and its going to hurt the environment. What we should be doing is LEADING THE CHARGE to institute a WORLD WIDE moratorium on off shore drilling, and work with the other Kyoto members to set up incentives to encourage 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world countries to develop energy based on alternative energy sources. Until we make it lucrative to do so, everyone will keep pumping the oil because that's where the money is.
